Justice League: The history of that team in the comics is way too complicated (and has been rewritten a few times anyway) to probably go into here. Check out the comics forum, no doubt someone can answer it there. The SuperFriends are kind of an auxillary branch of the Justice League. They started out with fouir members plus Robin, then later added most of the comic book League members as well as new original characters like Samurai, Apache Cheif, El Dorado, etc. The newest animated JLU series started with Superman, batman, J'onn J'onzz, Hawkgirl, Green lantern, and the Flash, and later added abouit every other hero on the planet. Green Arrow will be forming his own "Justice League" in Smallville in a January episode, which will feature every comic bookhero type who has appeared on the series so far - Flash, Cyborg, Aquaman, and Clark.
